Screens

Postby MainstayJames » Tue Jul 27, 2010 1:15 pm

Anyone have a particular place they prefer to buy screens at a decent price? Usually I go to Michael's (only art supply store near me) and buy them with a 40% off coupon, so I end up paying about $15/each. However, when I went there yesterday to pick up another screen I was shocked to see their entire supply out of stock. I asked one of the employees if they had any more in the back and they told me that apparently someone went around to all the Michael's in the area and stole all their Yudu screens. (seriously :?: ) So until they get more in stock, I'm looking for another place to pick up an extra screen or two (preferably the 220 mesh).

try googling aftermarket yudu screens from silkscreen supplies. I remember watching one of their newer videos and ryonet had mentioned something about making a screen from 60-305 mesh. it was an aluminum frame with a very taught screen. same size as the yudu and uses the little pegs also. Only downfall I saw in it was that our screens are steel reason being is that on the yudu where the two small indents are to make it easier for you to pick your screen off the light table after burning it are magnets. So these aftermarket frames wont get hold down by the magnets unless you stuck a thing magnet with an adhesive backing to the aluminum.

James, I just sent them an email asking for a link to these screens. I think others should have the link as I have mentioned about these mystery screens before. Once I get the email I will post it in here. Hopefully I was not mislead or anything and these screens are really out there. They looked really solid and I would add them to my collection (if I could have found them on their site)
