My Second Crack at It

Postby thesuntoucher » Thu Jun 24, 2010 7:34 pm

This is after ruining a few shirts, still don't have the ink distribution thing down yet. I have tons of designs but I am afraid to try them. A few are a little too detailed. Open for advice on exposure time, drying time, emulsion, what ever.

Isnt it harder to wash out the design when you expose it for too long.

umm, I dont think so. I have never had a hard time washing out my design. When you say wash out the design do you infact mean washing out the parts that didnt get exposed to make the design on the screen. Take a look at some of my work. I burn images on my 220 screen at like 10:30 min. It takes no longer to wash the design so I can being printing my shirts.

If you have any more questions dont hesitate to ask. Everyone on here is pretty helpful. :)

My thin lines come out best with lower exposure time - on my 220 screen I very rarely burn more than 6 minutes. As a tip for ink distribution on small lines and designs, try using a credit card instead of a squegee. I find I have more control and I can "feel" more where the ink is going. Also if your ink seems to be drying too quickly on those little lines in between pulls, try misting (VERY LIGHTLY) between pulls - I like to pull, take the shirt out, mist (I am the mist up in the air and let the tiny amount fall on the screen), then back-pull the excess ink back over the design to cover it up and keep it moist while I'm lining up my next shirt.
