Was crisp and perfect...Now Blurry

Postby Jmarie » Mon Feb 22, 2010 6:15 pm

I am making save the dates. All was going well after a couple of practice runs. I was able to pull about 20 and then my ink started clogging my screen. So I washed it, probably to hard and it deteriorated a bit. So I washed it off and burnt a new one. And now everything is blurry. really blurry. I'd say I'm on my 4th time reburning a new screen and I can't figure out what's up. I've adjust my burn times, emulsion thickness, - I've tried pressing lighter, and flooding easier. But I can't figure it out. Here are pictures. Close ups of the good, the bad and what the whole thing looks like.

hard to say.. What emulsion are you using the sheets or something else? your making sure that you are pressing hard enough at the correct angle when you pull your squeegee across the screen?

ok Did you by any chance reprint your transparentcy for the second burn. It looks like it maybe be in the print out from printer itself. If so let me know can tell you how to fix it.

Thanks for the responses!

I am using liquid speedball diazo emulsion. I think I am pressing at the same angle and pressure as I was the first time. - Not super hard, but firm.

I'm not sure if this blurry picture is from a reprinted transparency or not. At some point I did reprint because it seemed like the emulsion was pulling off some of the ink on the transparency. I set my printer for heavy ink, saturated color, and moved CMYK sliders to max. It looks super black, like it did the first time.
